November 18, 1962 - February 9, 2024

Maxine “Mackie” McLean, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, formerly of Fort Nelson, BC, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, in Beaverlodge, AB, at the age of 61 years, with her best friend Becka and her sister at her side.

Maxine was born on November 18, 1962, in Fort Nelson, where she was also raised.

Maxine was employed in her younger years as a Camp Cook and worked in the Yukon. She then became a professional Class 1 Driver. She hauled fuel in British Columbia and Alberta, then taking her last job of transporting million-dollar race horses from Alberta all the way to Kentucky. Mackie was very proud of her class 1 status and had no issues passing her exes going up any hill.

Maxine loved to visit with her family and friends. So much that her and Becka decided to be closer to them and moved in 2021 from Edmonton to Beaverlodge.

Maxine was incredibly kind and would help anyone who needed it and her door was always open. Maxine was a radiant bundle of joy. She loved to cook, especially for others. She loved camping, road trips, music, and dancing. She loved to play cards and was extremely competitive, especially with crib and pool.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters: Bonnie, Isabel, and Patricia; brothers Gus and Brian; all her nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend Becka.

Maxine was predeceased by her parents George and Gloria McLean, brother Jordie, and recently her brother-in-law Brian.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at Brookside Cemetery in Dawson Creek. A Celebration of life will follow at Bonnie and Robert’s house.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Beaverlodge Food Bank (Box 506 T0H 0C0).
