It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. A resident of Wanham, formerly of Bon Accord, Alberta. Gerald passed away Wednesday March 26, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 67.

Gerald was born in Bancroft, Ontario, one of eleven children. He moved to Alberta when he was 16. Gerald married the love of his life in 1985, Kathy Onderwater. Together they raised three wonderful children, and over time their family grew to include cherished spouses, partners and grandchildren.

Gerald was resourceful and could fix almost anything. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who made sure his family was supplied in fish and wild game. Gerald loved to play cribbage, which brought out his competitive spirit and sense of humor. He was an enthusiastic coach offering “free coaching advice “to his beloved Edmonton Oilers from the comfort of his chair.

Gerald will be remembered for his warm heart and cooking skills, especially his cookies and homemade buns.

Gerald is predeceased by his dad, and other beloved family members and close friends. He leaves behind his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Kathy, his children: Nicole (Colin Jr), Martin (Courtney), and Penny, and his two treasured grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by many family members and dear friends, who will miss him deeply.

A Celebration of Gerald’s life will be held at a later date in the Spring with family and close friends.

He will be remembered always, loved forever, and never forgotten.
